Shirley Ann Utter, age 85 of Adena, passed away June 5, 2025.
She was born June 21, 1939, at the family home on Blairmont Road in Adena, to parents George and Helen (Bodak) Holyak. Shirley graduated from Adena High School in 1957. She was a devoted homemaker and also worked for 15 years at Kmart in St. Clairsville.
Family always came first in Shirley’s life, especially the children. She loved kids – her kids, the grandkids, great-grandkids, even all of the neighborhood kids. Her home was always open to them.
Shirley is survived by her beloved husband John Utter, who she married August 9, 1957, as well as her children: Judy (Steve) Whiting, Kim (Eric) Miller, and Ron Utter, and her siblings: Lovie Wooldridge, Joan Donley, Linda Bandyk, Robert Holyak, Diane Hornyak, and Larry Holyak. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren: Eric (Ezil) Whiting, Kenny (Jennifer) Whiting, Greg (Megan) Whiting, Chuck (Rachel) Sowers, and Brandon (Kari) Sowers, and her great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Cassidy, Easton, Evan, Emma, Eli, Rhett, Riley, Kennedy, Olivia, Brooke, and Hunter.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: George Holyak, Joyce Anderson, Carole Jeskey, and Sandra Malisiak.
Her wishes for cremation are being honored and no formal services are planned. Condolences and fond memories may be shared at www.borkoskifuneral.com
