Richard Paul Gunsorek

Richard Paul Gunsorek, 74, of Sherrodsville, OH, passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. He was born on February 22, 1951,the son of the late Paul and Katherine (Karalinas) Gunsorek of Adena, Ohio.

A graduate and the president of Adena High School, class of 1969. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College. Richard was a former member of St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church in Adena. He worked as Director of Environmental Services for several hospitals associated with Sodexo/Marriott companies.

Richard was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan. He always loved sports. Starting from playing as a defensive end for the Adena Golden Wave and then passing on his love of football to his two sons. He also enjoyed the outdoors, visiting museums, and national parks. His retirement years were spent on Atwood Lake fishing, boating, and spending time with his family and friends. 

He is survived by his two devoted sons, Thaddeus (Alyssa) Gunsorek and Matthew (Lindsey) Gunsorek; dearly loved grandchildren Jack, Josephine, Ellie and Owen; sister Dorothy (William) Soos, John (Kim) Gunsorek, brother-in-law, Stephen Gazdik; dear friend Brenda Roski, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Gazdik.

Family and friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at Borkoski Funeral Home, 60 South Bridge Street, Adena, OH. A funeral mass celebrated by the Rev. William Cross will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church, 221 Hanna Ave., Adena, OH 43901. Luncheon to follow at the American Legion in Adena at 79 Hanna Ave, Adena, OH 43901.

Private inurnment will be held at a later date in Holly Memorial Gardens, Colerain, OH. 

Memorial donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
