Petrilla, Raymond, 55, of McLaughlin Street, Adena, Ohio, passed away on June 14, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer.
He was born in Bellaire, Ohio on August 13, 1955, a son of Theresa Pruneski Petrilla and the late John Petrilla. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law Herman Kruszewski. Raymond was a member of: Commodore Jack Berry 3rd degree; the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the Cousteau Society. Raymond was a Professor of Biology at Franciscan University of Steubenville for 31years. His greatest love was teaching. He was also a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church. He and Pam loved hiking together in the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. He was also a voracious reader and loved medieval history.
In addition to his mother, Raymond is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Pamela Kruszewski Petrilla; a brother: Mark (Melissa) Petrilla of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters: Camilla (Joe-Ed) Galik of Adena and Fran (Roger) George of Westerville, Ohio; his mother-in-law Margaret Kruszewski of Adena; three nieces, three nephews and two great-nieces; and his loyal dog Pretzel.
Friends will be received Tuesday June 21, 2011, from 10 until the time of Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church, with Monsignor John C. Kolesar as celebrant.
