John Andrew Lengyel

John Andrew Lengyel, 70, of Adena, Ohio, entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Weirton Medical Center. John, the eldest son of Elmer and Anna Stock Lengyel, was born on January 6, 1955, in Wheeling, WV. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law Heather Lengyel.

John was a graduate of Buckeye West High School and Jefferson Technical College. John was a lifetime member of St. Casimir’s Catholic Church where he was a former commentator/reader. John was an EMT for 30 years at the Adena Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member and served various offices in the following organizations: Adena Jaycees, Adena Volunteer Fire Department, Buckeye Local TD Club, and the Adena Lions Club. John was a huge sports fan, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, and Buckeye Local Football.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years Beverly Melchioris Lengyel, who he married on May 12, 1984. He is also survived by his daughter Tiffany (Ryan) VanDyke, his brothers Andrew Lengyel, Tom (Janell) Lengyel, and David Lengyel, his sister Debbie Battilochi, along with nieces and nephews: Nikki (Steve) Halicky, Kristie (Nathan) Prati, Jessica and Joey Battilochi.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Borkoski Funeral Home in Adena. Adena Lions Club service will take place at 6:30 PM. Friends will also be received on Friday from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the funeral home. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated by Fr. William Cross on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
