Gertrude Elizabeth "Betty" (Thoburn) Zamski

April 24, 1928 ~ March 8, 2011 (age 82) 82 Years Old

ZAMSKI, Gertrude Elizabeth “Betty” Thoburn, 82 of Dillonvale, Ohio,  passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday March 8-2011 at the OVMC in Wheeling, WVA.
Our mother, known to everyone as Betty, was born in Harrisville, OH on April 24-1928 to the late Gertrude Eliza Goff Thoburn.  She was a spiritual and loving person.  You were never a stranger to Betty, who made friends very easily.  She loved flower gardening and spent hours in her gardens, which was evident when you drove by her home.  She loved riding on the back of a Harley with her companion Tony.  They rode in Rolling Thunder in Washington, D.C. and the 911 Run to NYC.  Her family was most important to her.  She never missed a birthday, sending 48 cards a year to children, grandchildren, and great grand children.  We all loved her deeply and will keep her in our hearts forever.   She enjoyed life to the fullest.   She attended the first Jamboree in the Hills and continued going for years.  She vacationed with her family and didn’t miss a party she was invited to.  If there was a dance, she was dancing.
She was a member of the Adena American Legion Auxiliary Unit 525, ABATE, Harley Owners Group and the Fairpoint Polish Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Paul Zamski, in 1980, four sisters Doris Frantz, Ethel Celestino, Venie Dunn, and Nancy Crace, two brothers, Jim Thoburn and Harold Thoburn.
She is survived by her children who adored her, Cynthia (Ray) Kelly of Alexandria, VA, Frank (Cheryl) of Dillonvale, John (Marcy) of Pleasant Grove, Bonnie (Jim) Snyder of Piedmont, Penny (Sam) Agostini of Dillonvale, and Terry (Susan) Zamski of Mineral, VA,; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and her companion of 26 years Anthony (Tony) Oboy.  She is also survived by two brothers, Robert Thoburn and Carl (Bud) Thoburn both of Virginia and sister as well as best friend Jean Rinkes of Harrisville,  two nieces who were very special to her.
Visitation with the family and a Memorial of her life will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Harrisville Covenant Presbyterian Church, from 9:30 am until services at 11:00 am., with Rev. Barry Hall, officiating.    In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harrisville Presbyterian Church or American Cancer Society.
