George Walter Friend

George Walter Friend, 93, of Adena, Ohio, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his children on Thursday July 15, 2021.

  He was born September 1, 1927, a son of the late Robert and Jesse Sims Friend and grew up in Duncanwood and Harrisville.

  George was a lifelong mechanic and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Freda May Briggs Friend, sisters: Mildred Miller, Dorothy Irons, Betty Farnsworth: brothers: Jim Friend, Richard “Dick” Friend. 

George is survived by: Sharon "Shari" Friend of Harrisville, Judy (David) Beaver of Triadelphia, WV, James Friend of Adena. 

  Friends will be received Tuesday July 20, 2021 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, 60 South Bridge Street, Adena, OH.  Visitation will continue Wednesday from 10 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Harrisville United Methodist Church with Reverends Ken Staley, Chuck Mehl and Barry Hall co-officiating.  Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, with Military Honors by Adena American Legion Post #525 at church and the cemetery.  Offer online condolences to the family at www.borkoskifuneral.com
