Frank Paul Zamski Jr., age 77 of Dillonvale, passed away March 12, 2026, at Wheeling Hospital. He was born April 20, 1948, in Martins Ferry, Ohio to parents “Betty” Gertrude Elizabeth (Thoburn) and Frank Paul Zamski Sr.
Frank was affectionately known as “Blub” to his family and friends. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1966 and was then drafted into the Army. Frank was extremely proud of his military service. He was a decorated Sergeant in the US Army serving in the Vietnam War. Frank received the Purple Heart, Purple Heart Cluster, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Air Medal. After his military service, Blub became an active member of the Adena American Legion Post 525. He served most positions, including Post Commander, and was a fixture in their Honor Guard for decades. He was also a member of Yorkville VFW Post 4811.
Frank was employed with United Mine Workers of America for 46 years, working at several area coal mines. He was a member of St. Casimir Parish, a charter member of Short Creek Sportsmen’s Club, and a member of the Pine Valley Sportsmen’s Club.
Blub enjoyed playing poker and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He loved the outdoors, especially when he was hunting, fishing, or chopping wood. He was quite the history buff, and also enjoyed traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years Cheryl (Rauscher) Zamski, their daughters Julie Zamski and Valarie (Jacob) Rife, his siblings: Cynthia (Ray) Kelly, John (Marcy) Zamski, Bonnie (Jim) Snyder, Penny (Sam) Agostini, and Terry (Susan) Zamski, along with many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law Dorothy Rauscher.
