Francis M. Sebring Sr., 81, of Dillonvale, Ohio, died Saturday June 30, 2007 at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, Ohio.
He was born in Indiana on September 8, 1925, a son of the late Merl C. and May Miller Sebring.
Francis received a Masters Degree from West Virginia University; he was the Dean of Development at Belmont Technical College; a longtime Teacher, Coach and Counselor at Buckeye Local School District, Dillonvale Public Schools and Steubenville Central; former Mayor of Dillonvale; Dillonvale EMS and Fire Department member; Paramedic / Instructor; Dillonvale American Legion; and a U.S. Marine Veteran of WWII and Korean Wars.
In addition to his parents, Francis was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Olszeski Sebring.
Francis is survived by two sons: John Sebring and his wife Amy of Adena, Francis Merl Sebring and his wife Lisa of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Helen Tansmore of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters: Lillian Cripe and Iva Dalton of Indiana; 7 grandchildren; Charles, Milford and Mary Tansmore; Fayth Terrell, Trevor, Derek and Audrey Sebring.
Friends were received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and also on Thursday, 2 to 8 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, 555 East Market Street, Cadiz, Ohio, where vigil service was held at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday July 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church, Adena, Ohio, with Msgr. John C. Kolesar as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery, Dillonvale. Graveside military services were conducted by McCook Post #529 of the Dillonvale American Legion
