MISTAK, Elizabeth A. “Eliz”, 88, loving wife and mother, died Thursday February 24, 2011, in Harrison Community Hospital.
She was born in Flushing, Ohio on July 15, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Anna Truty Shipta.
Eliz was co-owner of Binns Food Center in Flushing, active with the Belmont County Democratic Committee; the Flushing Library Association and a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and Women’s Club in Flushing.
Eliz loved her Polish heritage and shared this love often through her stories, traditions, recipes and cooking with her children, grand children and others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Mistak; brothers: Frank, John, Stanley and Joseph Shipta; and a son Stanley Mistak.
She is survived by her three children: daughter Pauline (Bill) Madzia; son Ronald Mistak; and daughter Betty Ann (Pat) Kovacs; nine grandchildren: Daniel (Gina) Madzia, Timothy (Jeannie) Madzia, Jennifer (Jim) West, Ronald Mistak, Kimberly (Jason) Comstock, Alyson (Michael) Fonesca, Patrick (Lori) Kovacs, James (Kimberly) Kovacs, Theresa (Jay) Rogers; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends were received Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, 555 East Market Street, Cadiz, Ohio where vigil services was held at 4:00pm.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday February 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Flushing, Ohio, with Reverend Fred Kihm as celebrant. Interment followed at Rock Hill Cemetery, Flushing, Ohio.
