DAVENPORT, Alois Franklin “Preach”, 81, of Dennison, Ohio, died Friday September 7, 2007 in Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz, Ohio.
He was born at Wallins Creek, KY., on July 17, 1926, a son of the late Bruce F. and Mary Elizabeth Perry Davenport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James Allen davenport; a sister Helen Eckley and an infant sister, Grace Davenport and a brother Garnett Davenport.
Alois was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming; a retired employee of Y&O Mines; and a U. S. Navy Veteran. He was an active member of the Brownsville Christian Church and most recently attended the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church of Dennison.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Audrey Pratt Davenport; and their children: Joyce and Rod Fields of Columbus, Ohio, Junior and Cathy Davenport of Champlain, NY., Paul and Susan Davenport of Chesapeake, VA., Debbie and Bill Johnson of Dennison, David Davenport of Vista Calif., Bruce and Jackie Davenport of St. Amant, LA., Tamson Davenport of Oceanside, Calif., two sisters: Geneva Neer of Strasburg, Ohio, Joyce Jones of Hopedale, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends were received Monday 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, 555 East Market Street, Cadiz, Ohio, where services were held on Tuesday September 11, 2007 at noon with the Rev. Scott Simmons officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale.
