Obituary

On the morning of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Samuel Daren Babb passed away peacefully in the company of his wife. Samuel was 61 years old.

Samuel was born on March 20, 1964, in Wheeling, West Virginia. He was the son of Samuel Elwood Babb and Grace Elizabeth Utter. Samuel worked in the HVAC industry for several years after his US Navy deployment on the USS Midway and USS Towers. He later established his own HVAC business S&K Services along with his wife Karin Myers Babb.

Samuel was an avid hunter, angler and outdoorsman usually accompanied by his favorite fur babies Bella, Max, and Loki. Samuel enjoyed fixing things as no task was too small. He also had a fondness for working on his antique Farmall tractors. In recent years his disabilities kept him from doing some of the things he loved, however, Samuel was also a bit of a trickster pulling stunts on his friends and neighbors. Like the time he took a toilet from a plumbing job he worked on then set it by the driveway so the neighbor could see, planted fake flowers in the bowl, and wrapped Christmas lights all around it.

Samuel is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Elwood Babb, mother Grace Elizabeth Utter, grandparents Mathew and Amira Utter and Cecil Elwood Babb with Viola Jackson, father-in-law Glenn Myers, mother-in-law Audrey Mumby Myers, and brother-in-law Eric Myers.

He leaves behind his wife Karin Myers Babb, niece Alicia Myers, nephew Chad Myers with his wife Shelby and daughter Grace, and nephews Anthony Myers and James Paddock, many cousins and extended family. Samuel will also be missed by his devoted friends Steve Mackey and Jerry Maynard.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sam's life on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM with a memorial service at 12:00 PM at the Borkoski Funeral Home, 555 E Market St, Cadiz, OH 43907.. Inurnment will follow at the Cadiz Union Cemetery in Cadiz, Ohio, with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Guernsey at 9711 East Pike Road, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio 43725. Condolences and fond memories may be shared at www.borkoskifuneral.com

The family would like to thank Hospice of Guernsey for their compassionate care during Sam's final days. And a special thanks goes out to Samuel's cousins Bob and Alice Herrel whose support during this challenging time will always be remembered. Also wanted to thank Samuel's cousin Cathy Cope Rose for her help.
