Mary Lou Bartrug, age 87 a lifelong resident of Adena, went Home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2026. She was born January 28, 1939, in Adena, Ohio, a daughter of the late Walter and Lila (Watkins) Thompson.

Mary Lou was a devoted wife, mother, Mammy, and friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her beloved husband Larry Bartrug, who she married on December 31, 1956, as well as her children: Jim (Vickie) Bartrug and Beth (Bill) Wilden. Mammy’s legacy will live on through her grandchildren: Megan (Josh) Vinci, Sarah (Mike) Hawthorne, Shelby (Jonathan) Horton, along with her precious great-grandchildren: Nolan and Claire Hawthorne, Keagan Vinci, and Lucy Horton, and several nieces and nephews that she adored.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: William Durbin, Luella Bailey, Robert Thompson, and Carol Hill.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Borkoski Funeral Home, 60 S Bridge St, Adena, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Maggie Hodor on Friday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
