Leslie G. Matthews Sr., 75, of Adena, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday January 26, 2022, at home.

He was born December 12, 1946, a son of the late Harold V. and Beatrice Eileen Coss Matthews.

He was a retired coal miner from Consol, attended Mt. Pleasant School and a member of Sons of the American Legion, Adena.  He married Brenda Sue (Smith) Matthews in 1965.  He enjoyed hunting and farming.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Brenda Sue (Smith) Matthews, sisters: Ruthann Harris, Suzie Lantz; brothers: Harold Matthews Jr. and Donald Matthews.

Leslie is survived by his son Leslie G. (Tresa) Matthews Jr. of Adena, sisters: Sharon (Fred) Freeze of Mt. Pleasant, Illarae (Ray) Covington of St. Clairsville, Loise Cook of Indiana; brothers: Jim Matthews of Michigan, Richard Matthews of New Athens; grandchildren: Ashley Matthews, Jacob Matthews, Zachery Matthews (Katie McLaughlin) and five great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Thursday February 3, 2022, from 10 until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, 60 South Bridge Street, Adena, Ohio, with Rev. Barry Hall officiating.  Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.  Offer online condolences at www.borkoskifuneral.com
