John "Johnny" Walter Hawthorne, 89, lifelong resident of Cadiz, Ohio, passed  December 6, 2013 at UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born in Cadiz on January 1, 1924, a son of the late Alva Beatty Hawthorne and Wilhelmina Daughtery Hawthorne. Johnny was a school bus driver for Cadiz area schools for 15 years; a Coal Truck owner and operator; 20 year Cadiz city Mail Carrier and 6 year Rural Route Carrier for the U. S. Postal Service.  He was a charter member of the Harrison County Genealogy Society, and the Franklin Museum of New Athens, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters: Betty Jane Hawthorne and Helen V. Hawthorne Bush; brother David Beatty Hawthorne on October 1, 2012, brothers in law Rev. Neil Brown and J. Robert Jay. Johnny is survived by five sons:  John F. Hawthorne of Cadiz, Walter G. (Debbie) Hawthorne of New Athens, Wayne D. (Maria)                   Hawthorne of St. Clairsville, Ohio,  James A. Hawthorne of Cadiz,  Daniel T. (Lee Ann)  Hawthorne of Weirton, WV; daughter Melissa Jane (Craig) Davis of Newark, Ohio;  brother Rev Ralph Rogers Hawthorne of AZ.;  sisters: Wilhelmina (J. Robert) Jay of Willoughby, Ohio and  Margaret E. (Rev. Neil) Brown of San Diego, CA., his former wife, Frances Foreshea Hawthorne; fifteen grandchildren: four Great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday December 14, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. at Borkoski Funeral Home, 555 East Market Street, Cadiz, Ohio with Rev. Paul J. Ellerick Sr. officiating.  Interment will follow at Unity Cemetery. At Johnny's request, no flowers please, but you can send a memorial contribution to Franklin Museum, New Athens, Ohio.
