Obituary

Eva Orizczak Barkhurst of 283 US Route 250, Adena, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, March 25, 2023. She was born October 15, 1923, in Glen Robbins, Ohio, the twin daughter of the late Steve and Femija (Ana) Kuzmiak Orizczak. Eva was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a devout Christian and member of the United Methodist Church. She was their long-time Membership Chair, updating the membership list just days before her passing. She also served the community in the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, providing countless baked goods, especially her famous Bunny cakes for the fish fry dinners during Lent. In addition to her parents, Eva is preceded in death by her husband Ellis, daughter Cheryl Adams, son Gary, twin sister Catherine Petras, brother Steve, and brother John Orizczak. Eva is survived by two daughters Linda Lanoy (John R. of Harrisville, Ohio), and Susan Kubat of Bloomingdale, Ohio; son-in-law G.Brent Adams of Steubenville, Ohio; five grandchildren: Tesa Lanoy, Tracy Lanoy (Alan Wootchie),  Jennifer Lanoy MacAlister (Ray), Brian Adams, and Amy Adams (Cody) Moore; and five great-grandchildren:  Ray David and Jenna MacAlister, Ellisen Adams, and Opal and Eli Moore. Eva enjoyed a long (99.5 years) and full life. She was always with her family at home, church, or on vacation. Eva loved to travel and experience new things; she visited Israel, Germany, France, the Caribbean, Southern California, New York City, Florida, Hilton Head, New Jersey, Washington D.C.., and many other places. She loved to garden and tend to her flower beds and could be found most days serving her friends and family through her cooking and baking and hospitality in her home for most family gatherings.  She was loved and will be missed so very much.

Friends will be received Saturday April 8, 2023, 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Harrisville United Methodist Church, Harrisville, Ohio with Rev. Ken Staley officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove.  The family is being assisted by Borkoski Funeral Home.
